Dane County’s Home Buying Resource

Buying a Home?

Step 1. Get educated!

First time home buyer education explains the process of buying a home and obtaining a mortgage loan. It usually includes information about credit, budgeting, and home inspections, too. Many down payment assistance programs require some form of education to be eligible for grants and loans.

Attend a Home Buyers Round Table Fair for first time homebuyer education classes in both English and Spanish, an opportunity to win a $3,000 down payment grant, and chance to talk to housing industry exhibitors. The fair is free and open to anyone interested in learning about the home buying process.
